Welcome to the textetage

The "text etage" has filled the sunny fourth floor loft of renovated commercial office space in a courtyard along the Landwehr Canal in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district since 1999. The one- and two-person offices are rented by freelance journalists, authors, editors, and translators, that is, writers of all kinds who are escaping the isolation of sitting at a computer alone at home to spend their days in a good working atmosphere that is inspiring and refreshing to boot. Financially and legally independent of each other, we nevertheless give, take, borrow, and share ideas, projects, reference materials, staplers, postage stamps, advice, help, chitchat, lunch tables, as well as a kitchen, conference table, foosball game, and copier.

text (tekst): the words and form of a written or printed work; a work containing such text.

etage (e-'ta:zh-e): from the French étage: story or floor, in the sense of loft: one of the upper floors of a warehouse or business building.
